Introduction
Monaco Cool by Robert Westgate is a humorous account of an unnamed narrator’s adventures and mis-adventures in the principality of Monaco – as he hangouts in a trendy pub with fascinating (increasingly caricature) characters.
It starts funny – but the lack of much structure, the flying-in and flying-out characters who don’t resonate (despite actually having drawings of them in the book), and the broadly repetitive humor gets tiring soon enough.
All in all, I didn’t particularly enjoy the book I had thought I would
